It is safe to say Bahubali 2 has been one of the most anticipated films across the nation. Last time a south film garnered such buzz in the north was a Rajinikanth movie. This is one film, everyone has been awaiting. While the question – Why Kattappa killed Bahubali is a major driving force, there are many other reasons why fans want to catch this Bahubali 2 – Stellar direction, compelling story, mind-blowing VFX and most importantly – the characters.
Each of them have been sketched out in detail displaying their flaws and strengths in full measure. There is so much depth to each of them that you feel like you know them. Prabhas as Amarendra Bahubali has been one of the most impressive character we have known, followed closely by Rana Daggubati’s ruthless act as Bhallaladeva. But the bigger surprise in this Rajamouli film have been the powerful female characters – Devasena, the princess of Kuntala played by Anushka Shetty, Avanthika the warrior played by Tamannaah Bhatia and Sivagami the queen played by Ramya Krishnan. Each of them are striking in their own right. Considering it’s so hard to choose, we conducted a poll to find out from our readers – who was their favourite female character in Bahubali? And now we have the results – Anushka Shetty wins hands down as she received 63% votes as opposed to Tamannah Bhatia who received about 37% votes. Devasena BEAT Avanthika to become the most popular female character in Bahubali.
Having watched the movie myself, have to say, Anushka Shetty as Devasena was exemplary. She not only looked exquisite but her powerful personality was inspiring. There was no sign of a damsel in distress, here was a woman who could hold her own with grace and strength. Her outright ways may have got her into trouble but she was unapologetic about it. It was no surprise when Amarendra Bahubali fell for her. She was the kind of lady, who could cast a spell on you just by being herself.
The mvoie also stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan. The film has been directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by ARKA Mediaworks. The film release don 28April in 8000 screens across the world.
